An Exciting Week Ahead at the Library!
We have a full and inspiring week coming up, with something for everyone to enjoy.
🌱 Tuesday, August 19
11:00 AM – Hands on Nature: Earthworms
Hands on Nature is back with a fun, interactive program—this time all about earthworms! Did you know the library has its very own worm composter? Come learn how these amazing creatures transform kitchen scraps into rich, healthy soil. Perfect for kids, families, and anyone who loves nature.
1:00 PM – State Representative Margaret Scarsdale: From Tragedy to Legislation
Representative Scarsdale will talk about the legislative process and share the story of Colby’s Law.
Colby Andrew Lippincott, a 14-year-old honors student from East Sandwich, tragically lost his life in a motocross accident in June 2024. In response, Colby’s family and community have worked to propose legislation (H. 2468/S. 1629), known as Colby’s Law, to make youth motorsports safer.
This program is important for all ages—especially young people curious about how personal stories can inspire real change.
2:00 PM – Animal Adventures
Back by popular demand! Animal Adventures will bring a wide variety of animals for everyone to meet. Last time the reptiles stole the show—this time there will be reptiles and more!

1:00 PM – Messages of Hope for Kati Preston
We were scheduled to welcome Holocaust survivor and graphic novelist Kati Preston, but she is currently unwell. We wish her a speedy recovery and will reschedule her visit as soon as possible.
In her honor, we invite you to paint rocks with messages of hope and love to add to our growing Rock Garden. Kati’s mission is to spread hope and resilience—let’s help carry that forward together.
