December at the Ashby Free Public Library
Hi Friends,
December is here and the library has a number of fun events to share with you. We have so many fun activities planned for the kids during the vacation week that we couldn’t fit it all on one newsletter. Keep an eye out for those details.
I hope that all of you have a happy and healthy holiday season.
First Friday Free Family Movie with Tacos Y Burritos Panchitas
On Friday December 1st we will have our First Friday Family Movie Night. At 4 PM the taco truck will arrive, everyone is free to buy food from the taco truck even if you are not interested in the movies. At 5 PM we will be showing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. At 7 PM the Taco truck will leave and we will show Jumanji: Welcome to The Jungle. You are free to eat inside the library. If you prefer to bring your own seat, feel free.
We are always open for suggestions for future movies, so if there is something you would like to see, please let me know.

Non Fiction Book Club Thursday November 14th at 6:30
We will be discussing the information available about the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict. Wren suggested that we discuss topics of interest during non-fiction book club, so for this month we are discussing “Understanding the Palestinian Conflict” by Phyllis Bennis and next month we will be discussing Lynne’s suggestion “The Brain that Changes Itself.” Due to the complexity of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, I selected a number of books from different perspectives to help you gain a further understanding of a complex topic. These books may be checked out regardless of whether you plan to attend the discussion.
New members are always welcome.
Join us on Saturday December 23rs at 2PM when we welcome Sarah Segal-Lazar to the Ashby Free Public Library for a concert for the whole family.
Travel the world from home with a book bundle!
We have curated book bundles around a theme so you can vacation from the safety of home this winter. Each bundle has books, videos, a cookbook and a craft inspired by the destination. Spend a weekend in Paris, London, Rome, the beach and more with a book bundle. We have several already created and we can customize one for your dream destination. All of the items in the bundle can be kept out until March, so there is no need to brave the winter weather to return books to the library.
