Subject: Juneteenth, Pizza, Music & AshbyFest!
Hi Friends,
Just a quick reminder—and an apology! I completely forgot to account for the calendar when scheduling events. Today is Juneteenth, a state and federal holiday commemorating the day news of the Emancipation Proclamation finally reached Galveston, Texas—two years after its passage.
The Ashby Free Public Library is closed during regular hours today, but we’re still moving ahead with our celebration of our most recent grant with a Community Conversation & Pizza Party from 5:00 to 7:00 PM!
We’ve ordered plenty of pizza (including gluten-free options!) and salad—it’s far too hot to cook, so come join us, enjoy some dinner, and share your thoughts on how we can make the library a more welcoming place for children with neurodiversity and other disabilities. (Yes, you can check out a book)
🎻 Don’t forget—tomorrow night (Friday) at 7:00 PM, we welcome the wonderful Nissitissit String Quartet. Their name might be hard to spell, but their music is unforgettable!
🎪 And on Saturday, it’s AshbyFest!
An all-day celebration on the Common with live music, local vendors, and fun for the whole family. Special thanks to the Friends of the Library, Friends of the Council on Aging, Friends of the Ashby Grange Hall, the Historical Society, and the Ashby Library Homeschool Co-op for going above and beyond to make this year’s event the best yet. And a huge thank-you to Kate Ravellette of the Lunenburg Artisan Market for creating and donating many of the kids’ games!
Hope to see you all this week!
