Come Out and Shop Local! The Library’s First-Ever Local Goods & Services Showcase Is Coming June 16th
Mark your calendars, Ashby! The Ashby Free Public Library is hosting a brand-new community event this summer, and we want everyone to be a part of it. On Tuesday, June 16th, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, the library will open its doors for the inaugural Local Goods & Services Showcase — a free, festive evening celebrating the talented small businesses, artisans, farmers, and service providers who call Ashby home.
Whether you are looking to stock up on locally grown food, find a reliable handyman, meet your next favorite soap maker, or simply enjoy a fun evening out with the family, this event has something for everyone. Best of all? It is completely free to attend.
A Celebration of Everything Local
Ashby is home to an incredible array of local talent, and this showcase is our way of shining a light on it. Attendees will have the chance to browse tables set up by local vendors offering a wide variety of goods and services. Looking for fresh, locally raised meat or produce? Want to sign up for a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) share and enjoy farm-fresh deliveries all season long? Hoping to find a trusted electrician, a skilled gardener, or a dependable handyman? This is the place to do it — all in one room, all in one evening.
We are also especially proud to highlight the energy and initiative of Ashby’s young people. Local youth will be on hand to offer their own services, from babysitting and dog walking to lawn care and more. Supporting a young entrepreneur is one of the most meaningful ways we can invest in the future of our town, and we hope you will take a moment to meet them and learn what they have to offer.
Something for the Little Ones, Too
This is a family event through and through! We will have snacks on hand to keep everyone fueled and happy, and the kids are in for a real treat — there will be a petting zoo to delight our youngest community members. Bring the whole family and make an evening of it.
Are You a Local Vendor or Service Provider?
If you have a small business, a craft, a farm product, or a service to offer, we warmly invite you to set up a table and share what you do with your neighbors. Participation is completely free, and the format is intentionally relaxed — just bring your goods, samples, business cards, or flyers, set up a small table, and let the community come to you. The event runs just two hours, making it an easy and low-commitment way to get your name out there.
We especially encourage young people to participate. If you mow lawns, walk dogs, babysit, or offer any other service, this is your moment to introduce yourself to the community and build your customer base. No experience required — just enthusiasm and a willingness to show up!

The Ashby Free Public Library has always been more than a place to borrow books. It is a gathering place, a community hub, and a space where neighbors come together. The Local Goods & Services Showcase is a natural extension of that spirit. We hope to see familiar faces and new ones, longtime Ashby residents and newcomers alike.
