Vacation Week is Here!
Fun for the Whole family at the Library this week.
Vacation week is finally here! The library had a variety of fun activities planned for every member of the family. We don’t know the weather yet, but if there is snow on the ground Jen will have our hill ready for some sledding. Wear your snow gear if you plan to sled!
Tuesday
Strega Mama is Back
Tuesday February 20th at 10
Join Strega Mama for an hour of Stories and activities around the wonderful If you give a mouse a cookie. If you haven’t seen Strega Mama you are missing out on a wonderful storyteller. Please join us to kick off a great vacation week. Homemade Chocolate Chip cookies will complete the fun.
Winter Hibernators
Tuesday, February 20 at 11
After a fun story and a tasty snack, join us for a talk about animals who hibernate in the winter. The presenters for this program have been to the library several times before and their presentations are always wonderful. I always learn something from these presentations. Learn more about our forest friends who sleep the winter away.
Kids Make their Own Lunch
After the Winter Hibernators we will have a little lunch for all the kids that are spending their time at the library.
Afternoon Movie
Tuesday February 20 at 1 PM
Join us in the Young Adult room to enjoy a fun movie. Kids will be voting on which movie to show in the library’s children’s room for the week before the movie.
Lego Club
Tuesday February 20 at 4 PM
Join this growing group to create some Lego masterpieces. New members are always welcome. The Lego group will be meeting in the Young Adult area so the seeds program can set up.
Starting Seeds for Spring
Tuesday February 20th at 5PM
Join Roberta to learn how to start your seeds inside now so you will have little plants ready for gardening season. This program is geared for Adults and engaged children serious about gardening. We are also planning to record the presenter for future viewing on our new Learning the Library channel.
Ashby Photography Club

The ongoing photography club will be meeting for more work on portraiture. It is harder than it looks! New members are always welcome. This club is for adults and children serious about their photography.
Wednesday
Wednesday February 21 at 10:30
Right Start Playgroup will meet for crawlers and walkers. This group is facilitated by pediatric occupational therapist Denise Lynch and is a great opportunity for kids and their parents to meet new friends and investigate developmentally appropriate play.
Rainbow’s End Apiary

Learn about beekeeping and the unique variations in honey from Rainbow’s end apiary
Bee Stories

Rainbow’s End Apiary will delight the kids with stories and activities about bees and honey.
Unstructured Craft
Wednesday February 21st at 3PM
Join us in the craft room for some fun unstructured craft time. Paint a pot and plant some seeds, make a necklace or create a collage. Your imagination is the only limit to what you can create.
Thursday
Start the day with a bit of relaxation. Chair yoga is every Thursday at the library at 11:30. Roberta helps make accommodations for every body.
Space Day!
All day we will have activities around space culminating in our PizzaPlanet Party!
To begin the day Jen will have activities about the phases of the moon using Oreos. There will crafts set up in the craft room to learn about the phases of the moon. At 2PM a movie about space will play in the Young Adult space.
Pizza Planet Party
Thursday February 22 starting at 5PM
In preparation for the April Eclipse we are having an evening of fun learning about the planets and constellations. The Pizza will arrive at 5 PM for everyone that RSVPs https://forms.gle/3nVKqLzQqpEZKsyT9 . Be sure to sign up on the form if you are planning on pizza so we have enough for everyone.
At 6PM we will have several different stations with activities to help everyone learn more about the planets and the sky. There are fun activities for every age group. Weather permitting we will take the telescope out to learn how to use it and to observe the planets better. Thank you to Jenny Murphy for organizing this activity.
