Mark your calendars! There are many special events at and around the library this month.
Dear Friends,
Thanks to everyone who came out on Saturday to support the Friends of the Library and local artists and crafters. Also, thanks to all who supported Keep Ashby Beautiful by cleaning up your neighborhood and roadsides, and to those who supported the Historical Society at the engine house tour. We are looking forward to another month with many opportunities to support each other and grow our community bonds.
Accessible Libraries
Ashby has received another grant to make the library more accessible for people who have mobility issues. On Wednesday May 1st at 9 AM the library will welcome comments from people who have an interest in the topic. Coffee and muffins will be provided. On Thursday May 2nd at 9:30 Heather will meet with people at the COA to discover what we can do to improve library accessibility. I am always happy to hear about your thoughts, suggestions and concerns at anytime.
Cooking Club
Thursday May 2nd at 4PM
To celebrate Happy Potter day, we will make a traditional English summer desert, Trifle! whether you like fruit or chocolate this is a desert that can be customized to your unique tastes. All are welcome.
First Friday Movie

Films at 5 and 7PM
Tacos beginning at 4PM.

The Marvels will begin at 7PM
The Taco truck will arrive at 4PM. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the food truck even if you are not interested in the movies.
AnnualTown Meeting

To give everyone the opportunity to participate, the library will be closed during town meeting on Saturday May 4th. It will open when the meeting ends.
Highway Men- Matt York

Join us for an exciting evening of live music in the library. Supported in part by the Ashby Cultural Council.
Historic Common Tour
Saturday May 11th 10-1
Participate in a tour of the Common sponsored by Freedom’s Way and hosted by the Historical Society this tour will enable you to learn about the history of the town common.The majority of the buildings around the Ashby Town Common were constructed between 1775 and 1836. 14 historic buildings will be featured. The tour is self-guided with presenters at various locations to provide interesting historical insights and answer questions.
Event scheduled Saturday, May 11 from 10 am to 1 pm. Rain date of Saturday, May 25.
Healing with Nature an Introduction to Forest Bathing
Thursday May 16th at 6PM
Join us to learn more about how to restore yourself with forest bathing. Tips about forest bathing with your dog will also be covered in this session. Enjoy your walks in the lovely nature of Ashby with suggestions from this session.
Town Wide Yard Sale-Library Book Sale
Saturday May 18th 9-1
The Friends of the Ashby Free Public Library are holding the Annual Town Wide Yard Sale and Book Sale. Books, games, puzzles and more will be available on the lawn of the library. A map of the addresses all over town will be available at the sale and by email. People always sign up to the map at the last minute, so check your email before you head out yardsailing.
Live Folk Music-with Cameron Sutphin

Cameron Sutphin performs original material and classic country and folk cover songs such as, The Times They Are A-Changin' (Bob Dylan,) Angel From Montgomery (John Prine,) Bye, Bye Love (Everly Brothers,) Where Have All The Flowers Gone (Pete Seeger,) Gentle On My Mind (Glen Campbell,) Moonshadow (Cat Stevens,) and If I Needed You (Townes Van Zandt) as a solo acoustic act. Join us with at his Ashby stop on his tour to promote his new album.
