Welcome October
Say hello to the best month at the library!
Hi Friends,
October is my favorite month, and it is a great one at the library! We have a concert, a spooky story teller, politicians, classes, artists, cooking, movies and trick or treating in store. Please join us for all of the fun.
Tech Talk
Tuesday at 10 and Thursday at 5PM
Did you know that the CWMARS catalog is not the limit to what you can request? The collections of the entire state are available to you via The CommonWealth Catalog if it is in another library, you can request it. It will be delivered to Ashby for you to pick up. This is for unique items that the CWMARS Collections do not own and offer you the huge collections of libraries like Boston, Cambridge and Newton. Next time you don’t find what you want in CWMARS, give CommCAT a try. Always remember, we are happy to answer any questions you have at the library and will figure out the best path to get you what you want.
Homework Help Tuesdays After School Young Adult Room
We have a wonderful new volunteer who was a former AP Chemistry teacher who is now willing to help students with their homework. She is willing and able to help with all subjects and grade levels. This is an amazing service. If you are struggling with homework come and ask for help, you will be glad that you did.
Cooking Club
Apple “Donuts”
Thursday October 3rd at 4PM
A little bit of apple with a little sweet topping and we have a tasty and a healthy-ish afterschool snack. This one is more decorating than cooking.
First Friday Movie Inside Out 2
Friday October 4th at 6PM
Join us Friday at 6PM for Inside Out 2. The Taco Truck will be here at 4PM and the movie will start at 6PM.

Invasive Plants
Saturday October 5th 9-Noon
Join the Ashby Land Trust for an invasive plants class lead by Randy Prostak, an invasive plants expert with the University of Massachusetts Amherst Extension, on Saturday, October 5th. The class will start at the Ashby Library with an indoor introduction to invasive plants (1.5 hrs.), followed by a trip to the South Rd Fields Conservation Area to practice invasive plant identification and discuss management strategies (1hr). This class will be a valuable opportunity to learn about one of the greatest challenges facing our native landscapes.
